MUSIC: ODUMODUBLVCK MAKES HIS 2023 DEBUT WITH NEW SINGLE, ‘DECLAN RICE’

Nigeria and UK-based NATIVE Records’ rapper, ODUMODUBLVCK makes his 2023 solo debut with ‘DECLAN RICE’.

This new single, talks about ODUMODUBLVCK’s stance as a non-conformer and reinforces his ability to shine in a league of his own. Produced by Trill Xoe and John, ‘DECLAN RICE’ admires England/West Ham midfielder’s leadership and relentless spirit to succeed, mirroring OdumoduBlvck, who possesses this in abundance.

Speaking about the new single, ODUMODUBLVCK shares: “Declan is a hard tackling midfielder. A box to box midfielder. The captain of his team. I am Declan Rice. I am tackling the industry and I am doing it very hard. From my box to their box. I am defending and I am scoring. I am leading all my guys to the promised land”.

Since his debut on the scene in 2017, ODUMODUBLVCK has built a respectable repertoire of hits including Zlatan & Ecko Miles-assisted “Picanto” which enjoyed chart-topping success for 12 weeks straight in the Top 50 on Nigeria’s premiere music charts, TurnTable Top 100 and peaked at No.1 on Apple Music’s Alternative Charts. His honest music serves as little bursts of his magnanimous personality. Heralded by publications such as Dazed and the NATIVE Mag, as one of the frontrunners of Drill on the African continent, the rapper now has his sights set on global domination. ‘DECLAN RICE’ is released under Native Records. This follows the announcement of an exclusive worldwide joint venture partnership between Native and Def Jam Recordings, the first ever by the latter with an African company.

DECLAN RICE’ is the second single from the rapper’s forthcoming debut EP, ‘Eziokwu’ (meaning “truth” in his native Igbo language); a foreshadowing of the realness that is to come on the project. Packed with a string of hard-hitting raps & melodious anthems, ‘Eziokwu’ is a cohesive project that will serve as an introduction to Okporoko - the self-defined genre by ODUMODUBLVCK which is “a form of Hip-Hop that takes influences from grime, Fela Kuti’s Afrobeat, and progressive R&B.”

ODUMODUBLVCK charted at number 1 on the Nigerian Apple Music charts with ‘DECLAN RICE’. Listen now to see why!
