(LONDON, U.K, 17 May 2019) Two weeks until The Ends Festival hits Lloyd Park on 31 May – 02 June for the inaugural three-day festival in Croydon. Gracing the stage are international headliners Nas, Wizkid, Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley and J Balvin. They will be playing alongside Maleek Berry, Nao, Burna Boy, The Compozers, Rachael Anson, Wande Coal, Teni The Entertainer, Juls, Jaz Karis and Croydon FM. The Ends party doesn’t stop at our first, second or even third stage, inspired by New Orleans famous Mardi Gras The Ends will have a carnival float keeping the vibes flowing nonstop with a host of DJ’s. The Ends festival are also proud to present The 56 Black Men exhibition which will feature across the site all weekend. Creator Cephas Williams’ objective is to change perceptions of black men using photography. By posting striking headshots of black men wearing hoodies, these men are all professionals ranging from politicians, directors and teachers, telling their own positive stories.
British-born Ghanaian Kojey Radical will bring an explosive show that will immerse you into a dynamic blend of everything from smooth rap to gruff soul to propulsive rock to searing grime, all interjected with pensive moments of spoken word from the poet-turned-musical artist. A2 and Rachael Anson also join Nas, rap royalty De La Soul, grime legendGhetts and Croydon MC Nadia Rose for Friday’s line-up.
Making U.K exclusive performances on Saturday’s star-studded line up is Wande Coal, Jamaican born Kranium and international Wizkid who tops the bill. In addition to these remarkable names, East London local Kojo Funds will head South to play alongside an incredible line-up at Lloyd Park. With 90 million streams and YouTube views, globally, he remains at the forefront of the UK Afrobeat inspired sound. Together, these artists will be no stranger to Juls – one of the most prolific producers of the Afropop industry who will cross paths again with Wande Coal, Maleek Berry, and Kojo Funds. They all join Temiand Donae’O.
Following the release of her debut EP, South Londoner, and Brit School graduate Jaz Karis whose luscious vocals that travel between the soundscape of soul, jazz, and hip-hop joins Sunday’s line-up. Nigerian reggae-dancehall singer and songwriter Burna Boy will head to Croydon to perform hits ‘Sekkle Down’, ‘Ye’ and ‘Rock Your Body’. Closing the festival on Sunday, Croydon FM and The Compozers will join Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley, Reggaeton regular J Balvin, British R&B and soul singer NAO and U.S. “TrapHouseJazz” singer Masego. The Ends Festival is proud to be working with Croydon Music and Arts Council to shine a light on some of the finest homegrown talent. To do this, we will be running the Future Stage, which will feature local artists across the festival weekend. The main objective is to provide a platform for 14-30-year-old musicians in the hopes that they can follow in the footsteps of those who came before them (Nadia Rose, Maleek Berry, Jaz Karis to name a few). Serving up food on the field, the festival will host family run business Pink Cactus bringing you tacos and burritos just like the ones you can find on the vibrant streets of Mexico, expect the use of authentic Mexican techniques producing irresistible aromas and flavors that never let you down. Bayou are bringing the taste of Louisiana to the U.K. with their fun take on the classic New Orleans sandwiches. They’ll be slingin’ naughty po’boy sandwiches with their signature Cajun fries, blackended shrimp & lip smacking habanero chili jam, this is real Cajun soul food. Using only the best quality meats and indulgent toppings such as candied bacon and sides like BBQ ribs loaded fries, Mac & Cheese croquettes Croydon’s own Burger Boy recently made Time Out’s best burgers in London, and you’ll know why once you’ve tried them. The Flygerians, created by two sisters on a mission to bring Nigerian food to the forefront of the British street food industry bring audiences of The Ends big flavours and vibrant dishes that take you on a journey to Nigeria without stepping foot on a plane.
