The Celebration for the Late Great Fela Kuti's Birthday last Friday was a wonderful,brilliant, great,.......... affair. Perfectly organised by Mr. Rikki Stein. Dele Sosimi and Afrobeat Vibration, a band of fifteen amazing musicians and two wonderful dancers on stage. If that wasn't enough they had another eleven guests on stage (in alphabetical order) AfrikanBoy, AinaMore,BumiThomas, CassieKinoshi,EdKeazor,MrBreis, Nissi,TerriWalker,TemiDollface, TiggsdaAuthor,YolandaBrown.
A scheduled three hour set that started at 8:30pm didn't stop till after 1:00am and that was only 'cos the crowd answered "Yes" to the question. The question Dele asked was:" Are you guys tired?"
It only remains to say that at the end it was announced that next year's Felabration will be held at the Roundhouse. Keep a lookout and be there.
