Okada is the infamous Nigerian motorbike taxi service. Hailing from the city of Jos, Okada is now a nationwide phenomenon. The unemployed youth’s are able to lease a motorcycle, pass a simple test and pretty much begin ferrying or should I say weaving passengers in between the lengthy traffic jams that could stretch for miles.
They can usually be found in ranks at most junctions waiting for potential customers, passing the time away on their mobile phones, updating their facebook status or listening to old classics and current Nigerian tunes.
Okada’s can also be hailed by sticking your arm out, however
careful not to stand in the middle of the road, or you may get run over.
And most importantly, before you commence your journey “ “Don’t Forget To Haggle the Price Down”.
