During times of terrible xenophobia attacks in South Africa, the Namibian kwaito artist EES and the oviritje music group Ongoro Nomundu prove once again that – despite our own challenges – young Namibians stand together united.
The music video for the new single “Never Over” (from the new EES album “Authentic Rebel”) was released this Friday and is an example of young Namibians and Germans standing together to commemorate what has happened in the past and to work together for the future. Their message is clear and simple: Let's use music to unite our diverse cultures.
The video was produced in collaboration with five Namibian and German schools under guidance from the youth media network "The Global Experience" and Film AG e.V.. It was financially supported by the German Embassy in Windhoek to celebrate the 25 years of Namibian independence in line with the German Weeks 2015 in Namibia.
The video was premiered on 20 March at the Goethe Zentrum in Windhoek, with former President of the Republic of Germany Horst Köhler among the guests, and is now being played on the biggest music video channels in both Africa and Europe, including Channel O, MTV, Trace TV, PutPat TV and Tape.tv.
