Horrifying details of how a woman was dragged under a Tube train during the height of the morning rush hour are revealed today.
Official documents show the woman’s dress and coat became caught as the Northern line train was leaving Clapham South station for central London as she stood on the platform.
The woman suffered a “black eye and broken arm” after being “dragged along the platform and then onto the track,” states the London Underground (LU) incident report, seen by the Evening Standard.
As the train left the station at just after 8am yesterday dragging the screaming woman with it a member of staff “activated the tunnel telephone to stop train 047”, the documents say.
It was then a full two hours before all commuters on the train were evacuated. Passengers left sweltering in the heat and packed conditions were given drinking water.
It caused major disruption to Northern line services, one of the busiest lines on the network and used by more than 800,000 people a day.
Witnesses described “blood-curdling” screams as the 28-year-old victim was pulled beneath the carriage.
Last night a friend told the Standard: “She’s still in shock and avoiding most calls at the moment. Her zip got caught on the doors and pulled her under as she was departing.”
The friend said the girl definitely “was not pushed” onto the tracks.
