There's no telling what Kanye was actually thinking when designing his latest creation in collaboration withadidas until he comes out and says it himself. However, the shoe does seem to draw some obvious inspiration from some well-known sneaker Kanye is seen wearing day in and day out. So we took a stab at the burning question that comes with every Kanye West collaboration: What inspired it?
The Shape: The shape of the adidas x Kanye West shoe has a striking resemblance to that of a Chelsea boot mixed with it's previous Yeezy predecessors.
The Mid-Foot Strap: The mid-foot cross strap has been on all three Yeezys and was originally inspired by the ATO Cow Hide boot. However, this strap is a bit thicker than previous Yeezy models and is more reminiscent of the Louis Vuitton Jasper that Kanye West designed.
The Sole: Unlike the previous two Yeezy models, the adidas Yeezy does not feature a Nike or Jordan Brand sole. Instead, it features a BOOST sole that has a similar look to the adidas Tubular.
Overall Look: The simplicity of the Margiela Future, boot-like shape of the previous Yeezys or a Chelsea boot, and the suede/nubuck feel of a Visvim. The adidas x Kanye West shoe draws inspiration from many different shoes and ideas.
