GADGETS: Charge! Meet the smartphone battery that charges in under two minutes.

If you're fed up of tapping your toes waiting for your smartphone to charge, help could soon be at hand. A company has made a smartphone battery that juices up in less than two minutes. The only downside? We'll have to wait a while for it to arrive.

The battery is made by StoreDot, a start-up tech company. It has shown off a previous version before, but this one is smaller and faster.

It works with high-end smartphones too. During Mashable's demo, a Samsung Galaxy S5 went from nearly empty to full battery in less than two minutes. Some companies claim their chargers are the fastest, or will charge your phone multiple times, but it's worth checking the power of the battery. The S5 packs a 2,800mAh battery, which means some portable chargers won't come anywhere near juicing it up fully.

There's no word on how powerful the StoreDot charger is, but it must have a lot of grunt.

It's not without its compromises, however. It will only last about five hours, which is a lot shorter than typical smartphone batteries.

The battery will come built into future phones, so you won't have to buy it as an extra. According to StoreDot's CEO, the company is in talks with all the major smartphone players, and we should see it coming as standard sometime in 2017.
