In what is probably the biggest and most shocking upset of the award season, Kenya group Sauti Sol wins “Best African Act” at this year’s MTV Europe Music Awards,#MTVEMA14, beating hot favourite Davido, Diamond (Tanzania), Toofan (Togo) and Goldfish (South Africa) in the process.
What makes this win more remarkable is that Sauti Sol were initially part of the “Wildcard”candidates who had to earn the 5th and final slot by beating off the likes of Tiwa Savage,Sarkodie and Mafikizolo through votes.
Congrats to the lads from Kenya. They now move on to the “Worldwide Act” voting category as Africa’s representatives.
