Ladybrille Magazine, the pioneer digital platform and authority on African fashion in the West’ and the pioneer voice for the African woman entrepreneur; honors Popular South African media personality and change agent Thami Ngubeni, as its Ladybrille Woman of the Month for August 2014.
The Ladybrille ‘Woman of the Month’ is a monthly feature on the magazine’s podcast show ‘Ladybrille Woman Podcast Show, that celebrates outstanding women, locally and internationally, for their brilliant contributions to society.
“Thami is a very impressive brilliant woman whose accomplishments and contributions, from radio to television, to her talk show and humanitarian efforts, are worth celebrating for more than one month,” said Uduak Oduok, Founder of Ladybrille. “We are honored that she accepted our invitation to celebrate her this month.”
Thami Ngubeni is a South African author, radio host, tv talk show host, speaker, actor humanitarian, and entrepreneur who first became known for presenting various television shows as a teenager.
In 2004 she appeared as Sabina Siko in the film Critical Assignment. She also hosted a lifestyle magazine show ‘Free Spirit’ and in 2005 and 2006, played the lead role in South Africa’s wineland drama series ‘Known Gods,’ as the character of Nana Soci.
In 2011 she hosted her own show The Scarlet Lounge on DStv’s Christian channel ONE Gospel. Her television writing work includes scriptwriting for the magazine show Top Billing and the game show Family Fortunes.
On radio Ngubeni host two nationally syndicated radio shows including an entertainment/current affairs show and a motivational show ‘The Sacred Space.’
In May, 2007 she was appointed as the editor of The Oprah Magazine in South Africa. She resigned after a year in the job, choosing to pursue and create her own talk show ‘Life with Thami.’ Ngubeni is also an entrepreneur and owner of her own media production company called Tamzin which creates and produces media for TV, film, radio and print.
In 2006, she wrote and co-published a book titled ‘My Sacred Spaces’ with Penguin Books.
“[I] am just ecstatic to just have this opportunity …,” said Ngubeni on being named Ladybrille Woman of the Month for August 2014.
