Ladies and Gentlemen,
As most of you know, I have attended yesterday the 2Face concert which took place in London at The Forum in Kentish Town.
First of all, I would like to thank 2Face for blessing us with his presence.
His live performance was breathtaking and with no doubt one of the few performances I would never ever forget.
He didn't fail to connect with the audience, throwing jokes whilst singing.
2Baba is definitely one of the most humble personalities I have ever met in my 28 years of life.
Everybody will agree with me on this point and this is the main important fact here.
I was very pleased with Moelogo, Vickysola, May7ven, Ada Snoop ,Vibez Squad, D3 Dancers, Ms Lulu and GOP dancers performances. As for the rest you will read it below.
Well, before I hear anyone saying that I am bashing the organisers etc... I would like you to go deep into your sub-conscience and question yourself: Is she right or not?
We are all brothers and sisters in this industry and I shall not fail to support you when you deserve it.
This right here is called constructive criticism. It is all about your professional Input.
Please don't get it twisted and take it personal.
If you do take it personal then I am sorry to say that you are not about that lifestyle yet.
Lol
I have stated above all the positive points. Now let's get down to the real business.
I am utterly guttered about the organisation of the event yesterday.
I know that as Africans, we do have this very silly habit of being or starting our events very late. BUT almost 3 hours?? Come on guys!
This is the Forum in Kentish Town. They don't play with their time. They will just switch off the lights when your time has reached.
I have been an Event organiser before and I know that it is not an easy task.
An event can never be perfect but there are certainly many mistakes that could have been avoided big time.
I arrived at the venue at 8pm thinking that I would just get in without any issues and enjoy the concert But No circumstances decided otherwise.
Important names were missing on the guest-lists and this was also delaying the security in letting more people in.
Why would you put people at the Box Office who are not able to read African names?
You know what I mean. Our names can be very long and difficult to read sometimes.
Imagine me spelling in phonetics the name son the invitations. Haba, why? F for Foxtrot, I for India....Ain't nobody got time for that. I left my office to come and enjoy and Not to continue the work I was doing in the office. Lmao There was one lady who looked very helpless. I guess she didn't know what tasks she was
supposed to fulfill. She had couple of lists in her hands but I never saw her checking it and she was just walking around with no purpose. I was really confused but hey I had to sort myself out and get seated with my guests.
Obviously I became a bit irritated and had to make sure she understood that I wasn't there to stand and look at people telling me they didn't do their job correctly.
I really appreciated the fact that one of the ladies confirmed that she actually remembered writing those names down but she could just not explain why it was not on the list. @(-_-)'@
What really annoyed me the most was also that whilst we were trying to sort out this matter, some of the promoters will just interrupt us and ask for wristbands for people that were not even meant to be on the list. When she asked them they would just reply: Give me some wristbands for myself.
Please have some respect and wait until my case is sorted Jheeezz.
The event finally started around 9.50pm.
It is great to find such a nice venue for such an important event but do you know that it also mandatory that the sound quality is top notch??
I felt very sorry for the artists that performed playback because they definitely were not able to show us their real talent with that terrible sound.
We couldn't hear them properly and it was just getting on people's nerves.
Those that performed with a live band were the lucky ones. We did enjoy.
2Face is a Worldwide known artist.
BET & Multiple Award winner, he is a bit like a Youssou N'dour of our generation.
I felt very sad when I looked at the audience. The hall was not full at all.
If the promotion was done properly according to his real status, we would have even seen our Mums attending it.
I have to add that this is not fair towards 2face's status and reputation.
He deserves to sing in front of a full audience. His Audience.
I am sure many people will be guttered when they hear today that the concert was yesterday.
As far as I understood, not everybody was aware of this big event. That's a shame.
It is 2Face we are talking about for God's sake.
Unfortunately I have to say that the promoting strategy was not on point and I hope the organisers will learn from this experience.
This was my first time watching 2face perform and I really enjoyed it.
At least, I left the place happy and that's the most important.
