Anyone who has ever held a desk job or spent countless hours in front of their computer will understand the perpetual need for better posture. An issue that arises perhaps not in the short term, but more in thelong term in the effect it has on one’s back, shoulders and spine, a small team named FOALD recently aligned to produce a simple solution to the perils of bad desk posture. Cleverly branded as “Pillar,” the actual pillar-shaped design effectively elevates one’s laptop to a height similar to one that a shoebox would provide, but with an ergonomically designed slant and a more aesthetically driven overall finish.
Taking design cues from the Icelandic landscape and iconic basalt columns for its geometric angles, the FOALD team created the Pillar out of personal necessity towards better posture as well as having personally explored a plethora of other elevated desk options for their laptops, each lacking a variety of form and functions needs. At this time, Pillar is in its Kickstarter phase and you can find out more information on backing the project here.
