SingStar has proved itself as one of the most enduring music games of the past few years, letting you turn your Playstation 3 into a karaoke machine and wail along with friends to your favourite songs. It’s been a long wait, but SingStar is now also available for the Sony PS4, and this time you’ll be able to use your smartphone as the microphone! So long, expensive peripherals.
We’re not sure which bit we’re the most excited by when it comes to the latest version of SingStar – the fact it’s now available for the PS4 as well as PS3, or that you’ll be able to ditch a more traditional microphone and start howling into your phone instead!
You’ll need to download an app to use your phone as a mic – it’ll be available for both iOS and Android. It’s certainly a smart move on some counts; we’ve always got our phones with us, they already have integrated microphones, and there’s usually another around if there’s a big group of you and the battery goes dead.
On the other hand, you’re not exactly going to look like Robbie Williams if you’re singing into a microphone the size and shape of a Samsung Galaxy Mega!
The app isn’t just about ditching a microphone though: it’s also capable to setting playlists or sharing things via social, letting you keep friends updated with exactly what you’re up to.
Sounds like fun (well, if it’s anything like our attempts it’ll probably sound more like a cat wailing, but it’s generally amusing either way!). You can check out the latest version of SingStar in action below!
