With Apple’s WWDC conference coming up in June, there’s plenty of goodies to expect from the iPhone maker, but one of those could be a whole new refresh for its OS X operating system – and it could look a lot more like iOS 7! According to a new report, Apple is giving its desktop operating system a complete makeover to make it look more in line with is mobile offering, and you can expect to see it pop up next month. Read on for all the details!
According to 9to5Mac, the next version of Apple’s Mac OS X, version 10.10, will see a massive refresh, and most of that will be in it’s brand new redesign. The new look is said to take plenty of design cues and inspiration from the flat-style iOS 7, but the core of OS X will remain the same – it’ll still be a desktop operating system at heart, so you won’t have to worry about it becoming too much like iOS.
9to5Mac reports that the updated version will feature similar toggle designs that iOS 7 has, along with sharper window corners, even more defined icons across the system and a lot more white space than the current version too. Current OS X features like Finder, multi-window multitasking and Mission Control will still remain the same, and won’t be replaced with something more mobile-style, as Apple is keen to keep iOS and OS X separate.
Apple is planning on releasing OS X 10.10 by the autumn, and you can expect to see newhardware options pop up to go alongside it too. We’re looking forward to seeing what Apple has to show during its WWDC conference next month, and we’re sure you are too – we’ll be sure to bring you the latest news as soon as we hear it.
