GADGET: Even more Chromebooks on the way - with Google Now skills too!

Google’s Chromebook invasion shows no signs of slowing down: the search giant has just revealed a wide range of brand new laptops at a press event in San Francisco, with even more Chrome OS-infused machines on the way from Acer, Asus, Dell, Toshiba and Lenovo! Read on for all the details.

Google has just taken the wraps off its range of new Chromebooks, all packing in new Intel Celeron processors based on the chip maker’s latest Bay Trail line – these new CPUScould see you eking out a battery life of up to 11 hours from your laptop, putting them on a par with Apple’s stunning MacBook Air for longevity. The search giant has also revealed that the new Chromebooks will soon come packing predictive Google Now integration too: voice activation features are on the way soon, plus you’ll be able to watch movies and TV shows from the Google Play store offline.

Dell and Acer are refreshing their laptops, the Dell Chromebook 11 and Acer C720, with new chips instead of dishing out new models, while Asus has revealed two brand new laptops: the 11.6-inch C200 and a 13.3-inch C300, both of which are slated to hit shelves in the summer. Lenovo has also announced that it’ll be joining the Chrome OSparty with its first consumer Chromebooks by taking its Yoga-inspired design from its Windows 8 laptops, and giving the form factor a makeover with the N20 and N20p Chromebooks – you’ll be able to ping back the touchscreen on the N20e up to 300 degrees, just like the rest of Lenovo’s Yoga range.

Toshiba has also announced a new 13-inch model is on the way, although there’s no word on the specifics, while HP has said it’s also planning on launching a Chromebook too. LG is also finally getting ready to launch its Chromebase, the first all-in-one desktop running Chrome OS, while there’s also a Chromebox from HP in the works – all will be available in the next few months, according to Google.

There’s currently no firm release date for the Acer or Asus machines, but you’ll be able to get your hands on the Lenovo machines later in the summer, while Dell’s refreshed Chromebook is slated to hit later this year with no firm price just yet – we’ll be sure to keep you updated on the latest as soon as we hear it.
