REVIEW: Iyanya - Away (Music Video) Review by Minnie Marj. @marjoriefiedler @Iyanya

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Before I start dishing out my opinion about this music video, I would like to pin point that I am totally in fond of Iyanya's work.

He is a very talented Gentleman who proved to us that he can whine his waist like a King from Congo and sing like there is no tomorrow.

Hits like Kukere, Le Kwa Ukwu and many others makes us go gaga in the club.

The first time I heard the song AWAY, I have to admit that I was blown away as well.

The dance competition on Instagram kept my days busy and entertained.

I was even standing in front of my mirror and performed in front of the non-existent audience. :-)

The amount of fans that sent their videos showcasing the choreography made by the D3 dancers really amazed me.

Some girls sent their semi-naked videos in order to get some attention and maybe get the chance to appear in the video. Well that's the impression I got.

The Observers got worried and started bashing and judging some of the performances.

This is the moment where I thought: Iyanya the Away video has to be on point after all the hype created around the song.

This is the reason why I decided to attend the video shoot in order to get the Away vibe.

On that day the dancers were ready, Iyanya was in his element and Sesan was doing what he does best: Directing.

I was really excited to see the outcome of this shoot so you can imagine how I was preparing myself to start dancing until I saw the visuals.

I am sorry but I had to go back to my seat and focus.

What happened here??? I am still looking for answers!Big time!

Yes it is a clean job; the editing is perfect; Nice colours but Now can someone tell me where has AWAY gone??

I still do not understand the concept of this video. In fact the visuals show me that there was probably none ; They just didn't follow up or it didn't come out the way they expected it.

I am a bit upset because I don't understand the storyline.

So there is a girl who is arguing with her boyfriend at a petrol station; the boyfriend is buying fuel; She spots Iyanya and suddenly starts dreaming that she and some other girls

are chasing him. Huh?!? (in Rick Ross's voice) I also thought that Away was a Dance focused song so I was expecting the director to
focus on the MOVES.

Naaaah, I wasn't readyyyy (in Kevin Hart's voice)I must admit that I had too much expectations regarding this video.

Kudos to Iyanya, the director and his crew for the efforts made.

Freedom of speech is not a conspiration. We are all entitled to an opinion. Mine is professional.

Moral of the story: Never expect and you shall not be disappointed.

Cogito Ergo Sum
