GADGET: Steam Controller on the way before Christmas!

Valve has been hard at work at fine-tuning its Steam Controller, and it looks like all the fiddling and tweaking could result in a final product – and soon! A new report suggests that the polished product could be making its way to shelves later this year, and you could be playing your favourite PC games with Valve’s next-gen controller on your telly as soon as October! Will you find a Steam Controller under your Christmas tree this year?

A new report from PC Gamer states that Valve’s touch-based pad is on the way this year, and it could be in your hands as soon as October or November – just in time for Christmas. The news comes from a trusted hardware source at the PAX East gaming expo who has knowledge of Valve’s Steam Machine plans – and that the release of the pad also indicates that the consoles will be rolling out too.

The source says that the completion of the Steam Controller is the final piece of Valve’s Steam Machine plan before the first consoles goes on sale, and that there’s an expected 500 games that will run natively on SteamOS at launch. Valve revealed its wide range of partner-produced Steam Machines at CES back in January, and it said they’d be available before the end of the year – if this tipster is bang on the money, we could see the Steam Machine invasion begin with the controller’s arrival in October or November, meaning you could be having a SteamOS-infused Christmas. Is it time for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4to watch out?

We’ll be sure to keep you updated on the latest Steam Controller and Steam Machine news as soon as we hear it. What do you think of Valve’s Steam Controller? Are you waiting for the Steam Machines to roll out, or are you happy with your Xbox One or PlayStation 4? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
