GADGET: Samsung Galaxy Tab 4: 4G Android super tablet unleashed!

On a day where we’ve seen more tablets than a pharmacy, and following hot on the heels of Lenovo’s Tab tablet range, Samsung has just announced the fourth generation of its popular Galaxy Tab this morning. Just like the older models, the range is available in three difference sizes, offering cheaper alternatives to Apple’s iPad – meet the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 family.

What can you expect from the latest tablets then? There’s a lot to like in the performance stakes, with quad-core processors across the range, and bang up to date Android 4.4 KitKat on all three tablets. There’s 16GB of storage on each device too, and you can bolster that with an extra 64GB via MicroSD card, something you can’t do on any iDevice.

There are three different sizes to choose from – as before – including the 7-inch Galaxy Tab 7, 8-inch Galaxy Tab 8 and 10.1-inch Galaxy Tab 10. All three models feature a 1280×800 screen.

If the lack of high-definition screens is a little disappointing, the Galaxy Tab range impresses a lot more when it comes to staying in touch or connecting with other devices, with each tablet offering 4G LTE along with the standard Bluetooth 4.0 and Wi-Fi. There’s even GPS, turning the Galaxy Tab into an oversized sat-nav at the touch of a button if you wish.

Samsung has also made things a lot easier by including Group Play, Samsung Link and WatchOn apps, for sharing content with other gadgets and streaming movies and TV programmes from the Galaxy Tab.

Available in black or white, the Galaxy Tab4 range goes on sale this month, with UK pricing and availability still to be announced. Like what you see or is non HD just not good enough in 2014? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below!
