The phone the size of a tablet: Samsung prepping 7-inch Galaxy Mega
Phones are getting bigger and bigger, but this one takes the biscuit. Samsung is rumoured to be making a 7-inch Galaxy Mega – that would be the size of a small tablet like the Google Nexus 7. Good luck fitting it in your pocket. Or using it with one hand, for that matter.
Despite its jumbotron size, the specs sound a little middling. The screen is rumoured to have a resolution of 720p, while inside is a 1.2GHz chip and 1.5GB of RAM. These pale next to the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S5, or Note 3.
On the back is an 8-megapixel camera, and it has a 2-megapixel front-facer. Inside is 8GB of storage, which is expandable with a microSD card.
The device was spotted by Mobile Geeks (via SamMobile ). It’s certified as the SM-T2558 byTENAA, China’s regulatory telecommunications authority.
The previous Galaxy Mega had a 6.3-inch screen, which was still pretty large. But then Samsung started this whole craze for bigger blowers with the original Galaxy Note back in 2011.
Even Apple is rumoured to be joining the party, which is when you know something’s well and truly caught on. The iPhone 6 is rumoured to come in two models: one with a4.7-inch screen, and one with a 5.5-incher.
