Google stunned the wearable world when it announced its Android Wear project last month, and now LG has dished out more details on its upcoming G Watch that could make it the wrist wear to beat. How does an always-on screen and water resistance on your smartwatch sound to you? Read on for all the details!
LG has revealed more details on its upcoming G Watch on its brand new official website: we now know that the Android Wear-powered watch will arrive in two colours, a slick black finish or champagne gold. LG has also revealed that the watch will sport an always-on screen, meaning you’ll always be able to check up on your notifications without having to wake up the watch with a gesture or button press, unlike Samsung’s Gear 2 watch, though what effect this will have on battery life is hard to judge right now.
Explorers and adventurers will also be pleased to hear that the watch will also sport dust andwater resistant powers, making it perfect for you Bear Grylls-style types who want to keep connected whilst you’re on your next adventure.
The G Watch is one of several upcoming smartwatches, such as Motorola’s 360 watch, that are powered by Google’s Android Wear software, which puts features such as Google Mapsand Google Now right on your wrist – and we wouldn’t be surprised if the always-on G Watch packs in always-listening skills either, much like Motorola’s Moto X phone.
LG is currently keeping mum on an official release date for its G Watch, but a recent reportsuggests that it could be on the way as soon as July – we’ll be sure to keep you updated as soon as we hear more.
