ENTERTAINMENT NEWS: TIESTO ON LEAVING TRANCE: "IT'S NICE TO BE IN TOUCH WITH THE NEW KIDS"

Although Tiƫsto is regarded as one of the most successful trance artists of the last 15 years, responsible for tracks such as 'Adagio for Strings', the Dutch producer has strayed away from the genre in recent years.

Making a transition into house music around 2009, releasing the collaboration-heavy 'Kaleidoscope' LP, he now finds himself playing at festivals such as Ultra Music Festival among the likes of Avicii and Martin Garrix, the latter who's more than half his age.

In a recent video interview, he highlighted youth as a reason for changing the direction of his music: "It's nice to be in touch with the new kids that are coming up. The 16, 18 year olds who are producing house music. They see me as a kind of Godfather.

"If I was still a trance DJ, they would be disconnected with that sound, I wouldn't be that inspirational for them and vice versa."

His sound took another turn recently, uploading an 'Experimental Tech House' remix of Coldplay's 'Midnight'. Listen to it below.
