COSON MEMBERS PASS VOTE OF CONFIDENCE ON LEADERSHIP & CALL FOR NATIONAL HONOUR FOR OKOROJI

The Eko FM Multipurpose Hall in Ikeja Lagos may never have had to deal with the crowd that besieged the facility on Tuesday, December 17, 2013 as Nigerian musicians, young and old, from every part of the country gathered for the Extra-Ordinary General Meeting (EGM) of Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON)

There were probably more people outside the hall than inside as every standing room in the facility was taken up and musicians and other music industry stakeholders listened with rapt attention and intermittently applauded the very well-crafted speech of COSON Chairman, Chief Tony Okoroji.

One of the key decisions taken was the unanimous resolution for the interim distribution of the sum of N50 million which distribution commenced immediately at the venue.

Another resolution was that ‘a 100% Vote of Confidence’ be passed on the leadership of COSON for its persistence in the face of massive opposition to ensure that the rights of creative people in Nigeria are upheld

It was also resolved that the House of Representatives be commended for their recent unanimous resolution requesting the Broadcasting Organizations of Nigeria (BON) and Independent Broadcasting Association of Nigeria (IBAN) to immediately stop the obnoxious ban of the broadcast of the music of about 100 of the nation’s most admired creative geniuses who are members of COSON.……

”I HAVE A SERIOUS PASSION TO ASSIST THE POOR”

John Ewelukwa Udegbunam gives out Christmas gifts across different states to widows and some people who suffered disaster this year , 2013.

In his speech he said ‘if I have a flash back of the hell my mother as a widow went through to rear his children up, it touches me greatly in the heart and marrow. If you have not been a widow you may not really understand their plight. Sometimes she cannot find food for her children for some days. She will go begging and borrowing of money and food items. Some people were kind and some were insulting as at then. Some time we went picking palm Kernel, breaking them and eating to survive.

Also if you have not suffered disaster or being in abject poverty condition for years, you may not understand what poor people go through every day.

I am not as rich as many people think, but I have a serious passion to assist the very poor ones

In my thought if all of us no matter how rich or poor we are can render some small help to someone it will help a lot to put smiles in the faces of people, then making the world a better place.

Please help someone; you can make it a daily, weekly, monthly, yearly affairs.

I’m very sure God in his infinite love and mercy will continue to bless you as we continue to pray for you. Bless someone today and God will bless you abundantly.

John Ewelukwa Udegbunam is a renown Gospel musician, preacher, producer, music/video director, sound engineer, computer engineer, music couch, author of many music books, National President of MORAN (Music Label Owners and Recording Industries Association of Nigeria, National Music Director – CCRN, C.E.O.
