Social Media & The Future of Broadcasting in Nigeria

The Nigerian broadcasting industry has seen exponential growth, providing programming to a country of over 160 billion people and creating thousands of local jobs. Content produced locally is syndicated throughout Africa and overseas in Europe. The web and social media has enabled Nigerian broadcasters to directly communicate with their local audience and reach a global audience.

In this session, we sit down with two of Nigeria’s leading figures in the broadcasting industry. Emeka Mba, Director-General of the National Broadcast Commision and Chris Ubosi, Managing Director of Beat 99.9FM, Nigeria’s premier radio station. In a spirited conversation. led by ACCCE UK’s Executive Chairman Fola Kudehinbu, they discuss how social media has impacted and is being leveraged by their industry. They will also discuss the impact of digital media, partnership opportunities in Nigeria’s dynamic broadcasting industry, and their plans for the future and the role social media will play in that future.
