Cynthia Mare feat ZimPraise Choir - Hatina Musha Panyika (Official Video). Published by @Lanredavies

Zimbabwe’s singing sensation - Cynthia Mare is confirmed for Zimfest Harare’s Rain Dance – The International Concert on December 22.  Taking place at Harare Sports Club,  she joins the likes of the Rusike Brothers, talented producer/dancehall ambassador Jusa Dementor, Hip Hop heavyweight Synik and Hope Masike to name a few.

The London based singer/songwriter will showcase music from her forthcoming album Nziyo Dzaidiwa Naamai (Songs My Mother Loved) set for release later this year. This eagerly anticipated new material was recorded as a tribute to the star’s late mother Enita Charewa – Chamboko who died of cancer in July 2011. Produced by Joseph Kudakwashe Madziyire, the collection of songs are “dedicated to anyone that has ever lost somebody”, Cynthia explains. “I just hope the music will touch people and also uplift. These songs are very personal to me and helped me through a really tough time. That is the essence I wish to share”.

The album includes a heartfelt rendition of the traditional Shona classic, ‘Hatina Musha’’. Cynthia explains the message behind the track, “We (my siblings and I) used to sing this with my mother. It means we don't have a real home here on earth. We belong with God in heaven and when our time comes we will go back there, where we belong. That’s where we can find real peace, rest relief from our worldly troubles. So when we lose our loved ones we should know they are going to that special place. We must not feel too sad for them although we grieve and miss them.”

Cynthia Mare’s reputation for an exceptional live performance has won her widely acclaimed support slots for the likes of the legendary Oliver Mtukudzi, Senegalese R+B artist Akon, Grammy Award Jamaican artist Sean Paul and Nigerian superstar Tuface Idibia, (the latter personally requesting her for his Indigo2 dates in the UK last year).  The multiple award-winning artist says she is “absolutely thrilled” to have been invited by the Zimfest committee and “can’t wait to come home”.
