KMI RECORDS PRESENTS: J frazer - King is Here. (Listen & Download) Published by DjLanre

Without the right ambition, character and patience new artists are setting themselves up for failure. For Joshua Fraser a.k.a “J Frazer” none of the above is an issue. Getting your foot in the door is not an easy task and the fact that J Frazer has been able to do so as a producer, singer and emcee speaks to his creative depth. Born into a musical family, J Fraser grew up listening to his father, who was a singer, which sparked his musical passion. Dreaming of always buying his mother a big house, living lavishly and travelling the world, J Frazer was always ambitious. He decided that singing would make those dreams come true, “I started singing at 5, I wanted to be just like my father”; but as time went on, he realized that singing was not going to be his call to fame and altered his musical focus to emceeing. Through much of his teenage years J Frazer nurtured his lyrical skills. Taking any and all opportunities to show-off his abilities, he started to build a reputation as a “nice” emcee. J Frazer came to learn that being considered “nice” sometimes isn’t enough, but his character has no quit in it. Taking that confidence and ability he decided to take his music to another level, professional mainstream. He put together a demo and met with a record label representative that he knew “I walked in feelin good, I was crushed when he told me it was the worst ish he ever heard”. And again, Frazer decided to diverse his musical blueprint and began producing; though never losing focus on his rhyming.

Then, on the other side of the booth, J Frazer focused his artistic style on producing for local emcee’s. Through his beats he hoped to inspire great lyrics out of upcoming artist; while still longing (and preparing) for his time back behind the mic. This patience and dedication would not go unrecognized, but how it was rewarded was not exactly how J Frazer expected it or by whom. One day, while driving with a friend in downtown Toronto; listening to a disc of himself, Frazer crossed paths with the man who would change his career forever. Also driving downtown that day was CEO and founder of independent record label KMI Records, Taj Deen Ibrahim; when he drove up beside a car blasting a sound he’d never heard before. J Frazer recalls “this dude pulls up beside me and asked, is that you?” and I said “Yeah, that’s me” which was when Taj Deen Ibrahim asked Frazer to pull over and the rest you can say is history. J Frazer is now a member of the KMI Records family. J Frazer plans on making an international imprint on the rap game; like another notable Toronto artist and plans to represent his city no matter where in the world his career takes him. He doesn’t like to compare his rap game to other artist, but aspires to the greatness rappers like: Nas and Jay -Z.

Look out for J Frazer mixtapes by the summer of 2011 and his full
length album in early 2012. For more collaborations or information please email: info@kmirecords.com [2] and check out www.kmirecords.com
