It has been reported that a Nigerian state Governor's effort to rehabilitate a music icon has failed. Comrade Adams Oshiomhole Edo state Governor made huge efforts to rehabilitate one of Africa's reggae Icon Majek Fashek but the programme fell flat on its face.
The Gov recruited specialists and purchased a home for the reggae star in the historic Benin City in a desperate bid to restore the man who was once touted as the next Bob Marley to his rightful position in the music world . The programme had not started when Majek packed up his bags and headed back to the US, dumping the entire programme.
At the height of his stardom, Majek Fashek's hit " so long" was used by MTV at the end of the Malcom X movie documentary back in 1993. He graced stages in the States, Europe and Africa. His rendition of Bob Marleys redemption song was a massive hit giving him popularity in Africa at a time when South Africa was under Apartheid rule. We hope the legend gets the well deserved help he needs and gets back on the stage that he called home.
